Her father is a British soldier sent there to help the fledgling country's army. Gradually she makes friends outside the tight knit military world and begins to find the new life exciting. Their relationship runs smoothly for a while until the outside world intrudes as the new government becomes increasingly anti British. Jennie is caught up in these troubles and has to review what she expects from life and how to achieve it.
